Updates:

  • Teachers will be sending a “Welcome Letter” through Parent Square on Friday, August 22 by 3:00 p.m.
  • Parents will be able to log into Power School through the parent portal on Monday, August 18 to see their child’s teacher assignment for this school year.
  • The district has updated the Elementary Handbook.  I will be sure to forward that link when the handbook has been finalized.  Please be sure to review with your students.
  • Daily Attendance: Please be sure that you communicate with the main office when your child is absent. We monitor absences daily. Being in school every day is extremely important for continuity and achievement.  The state defines chronic absenteeism as missing 10% or more of the school year - a total of 18 or more school days.  The office will send home monthly attendance letters to families as a reminder when students are getting close to this number.  We will also be conducting attendance meetings with families if chronic absences continue.

Snacks from Home:

  • We are not allowing outside snacks/food coming in to be shared for celebrations with students or dropped off by parents.  Parents can go to the MRMS website and go to student life, click Food Services, and look for the healthy celebrations’ menu and order right from there for birthday celebrations.  Any non-food items like pencils, erasers, etc. would be a welcome way to celebrate.
Mystic River is a Nut-Free Classroom School:
  • Please remember that if your student brings in a snack from home to be eaten in the classroom, it does not contain any nuts.  The cafeteria does, however, have designated tables that are nut-free.

As a Reminder from the Office:

  • AM Parent Drop Off-   We allow students into the building at 8:45 a.m.
    • If you are dropping off your children in the morning, please be sure to arrive at school prior to 9:00 a.m.
    • If you are arriving after 9:00 a.m. please park and sign your child into the office
    • Students will be marked tardy after 9:00 a.m.
    • In addition, please do not pull into the bus lane in front of the building during the AM and PM drop-off/dismissal times.
  • Student Dismissal Plans - Please contact the office prior to 2:00  if you are changing your child’s dismissal plans for that day.
    • The dismissal time from 3:20 to 4:00 is very busy with parent pick-up students and those who ride the bus.
    • Having all plans firm by 2:00 will ensure that our dismissal process runs smoothly.  Thank you for your help.
  • A Photo ID is required when entering the school and will be checked prior to entering.
